Try Chalk Paint to Repurpose, Restore, Relove

Chalk Style Paint Recipes*

These chalk style paint recipes are the ones I have collected, the ones I have tried are the Calcium Carbonate and the Cornflour/Cornstarch but I assume the Baking Soda/BiCarb Soda recipe would be very similar to the Cornflour recipe.

This paint is different to off the shelf paint.  Chalk style paint on furniture needs one more step.  This

Before painting, make sure the piece is clean, no need to sand or prep
other than a good clean, no dust or grit.

CALCIUM CARBONATE RECIPE

2 PARTS PAINT
1 PART CALCIUM CARBONATE

THIS MAKES GOOD SENSE SINCE CALCIUM CARBONATE IS CHALK!
MAKE A SMALL AMOUNT OF THIS FIRST THEN ADJUST AS YOU FEEL WOULD IMPROVE IT. I FOUND A LITTLE LESS THAN A 1-TO-2, MAYBE 3/4 -5/8 TO 2 ALSO MAKE SURE THIS IS MIXED WELL, NO NEED TO ADD WATER TO THE CALCIUM CARBONATE, JUST ADD TO PAINT AND STIR…

PLASTER OF PARIS

    1/2 CUP PLASTER OF PARIS
    1/2 CUP WARM WATER
1-1/2 CUPS WATER BASE FLAT/MATT PAINT

TO START MAKING CHALK PAINT, MIX A 1/2 CUP OF PLASTER OF PARIS WITH A 1/2 CUP OF WARM WATER UNTIL IT DISSOLVES.

INTO THE DISSOLVED MIXTURE, ADD 1.5 CUPS OF PAINT, COLOUR OF YOUR CHOICE.
