What to Look For*

What To Look For

Just a thought before you start looking, you may find the gem when you are least expecting it. In other words, when you are not looking. So just be aware!

Condition

Often times the condition of the piece looks bad and could seem like too big a job but…things are not always as they seem. There may be fittings missing, maybe a shelf is damaged, the outside finish is poor but don’t be put off too quickly. If you like the shape, size and can picture it somewhere in your home and the price is right, then go for it!

Structure

There may be things that don’t appear to be ok with a piece, but if the structure is sound, it doesn’t wobble when you put pressure on it and again, you can see it fitting into your home, then start to bargain, you never know what you can to until you try.

Design

The design of a say chair is such that you can see it sitting at a very modern table, chair-style mixes, if they have the same finish, need not necessarily be the same color but have something linking them to each other. can be a great effect. So again don’t dismiss yet. If the chair is solid, has as they say good ‘bones’ and you want that look, then this may be your first chair. The design is the important thing, that the design will allow the chair to be repurposed successfully.
