Where Else To Look*
Secondhand, Charity Shops & Salvage Yards
Second hand shops and charity shops are great places to poke around in to find items to repurpose. If you visit country towns there is often a second hand shop that you could spend literally hours fossicking around.
The Recycle Shop at the Local Tip – these can be the most wonderful places to find those really affordable pieces of furniture. It is amazing how many people cannot be bothered to find new homes for their unwanted pieces of furniture. But this can be our good fortune, many chalk style painters have come across some wonderful finds. So don’t just go to the dump to dump your garden prunings, give yourself a little (lot) extra time to wander through the shop.
Salvage yards can be great places to find just what you are looking for. There you will find builders offcute, unwanted items form renovations or deceased estates. They can be a treasure trove of unique finds.
Don’t forget that you can often marry up pieced of furniture. An amazing array of wonderful options awaits at the local salvage or builders supply yards.
The bathrooms are often places where you will find that you want something different. There is a push to minimal everywhere today but you can still have minimal and get that wonderful piece added to your bathroom. Often times an old dressing table or sideboard can be repurposed to give you a wonderful vanity.
Wonderful frames can be repurposed to be unique mirrors or an odd group can be treated with the same finish to make a new collection for your wall. No need to add photos, you can find great objects to add to the frames, as long as the theme is the same a new wall feature will set off that redecorated room.
Don’t overlook the new features you can add to your courtyard or outdoor entertaining area.
If you haven’t ventured into the salvage yards you are in for a treat, you could spend many happy hours.
